Vince's music is characterized by traditional latin jazz elements, but there are several things that are uniquely Vince. Some of these include the chromatic embellishments like grace notes and flips. Another signature Vince theme is the walking or descending bass. While most of his songs exemplify these elements to their full extent, others, such as his first hit "Cast Your Fate to the Wind," are more subdued. In addition to his own compositions, Vince has done several arrangements, most notably "O Tannenbaum," "Manha de Carnaval," and "Fly Me to the Moon." This virtuosic moustachioed man writes some of the most laid-back, bordering-on-muzak pieces that just make you feel mellow and content. The best way to look at Vince is this: when your name is synonymous with cool, you know you've done it right. |
